New classes (Additions to the May handbook)

Arabic for Beginners Sharon Theodore is offering a new Arabic class for beginners on Tuesdays at 12.50 in Room 1.26.

Art Practical C: Collage and Mixed Media This will be in Room 1.29 on Mondays from 10.30 – 12.40. Maxine Jason says, ‘Collage uses materials that are all around us – different types of paper, magazines, fabrics and photographs. All you need is scissors, glue, pens, paint and a little imagination to be an artist’.

Bridge: Supervised Practice and Play on Fridays at 10.30 in Room 1.24. Shireen Gunasekera says, ‘Come and enjoy a friendly group if you have some knowledge of Acol. If you need any advice, I will be happy to discuss your hand with you’.

Greek: Advanced Conversation with a new native Greek-speaking member. Wednesdays at 12.50 – 13.55 in Room 1.26.

Music: Historic Singers on Shellac Those who attended Paul Lewis’s fascinating talks in the Summer break will be delighted to know that he has agreed to become a regular co-ordinator. His classes will be on Wednesday, fortnightly at 14.00 in Room 1.33, starting on 18 October.

Theatre: An Architectural History Irene Kyffin is offering a second class on Thursdays at 14.00 in Room 1.33, exploring the beginnings of theatre from ritual and worship in pre-Egyptian, Ancient Greek and Roman times. Her Wednesday class will continue with a look at the final stages of the journey of the theatre in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
