Unfortunately as you will see from the Bulletin, we have to bid a sad farewell to Ralph Blumenau who, as most of you know, has been a very popular co-ordinator with us for 33 years. Thanks to your generosity, we have been able to give him a cheque for £900 as a token of the esteem in which we hold him. We have also prepared an album of photographs showing him “in action” here in Belsize Park and also containing pictures of friends he has made along the way, some of whom are no longer with us. He was delighted when i gave it to him as it will be a poignant reminder of the years he spent with us.
Below is a message from Ralph that he has asked me to share with you.
I am profoundly grateful for your donations for my farewell meeting, at which your gift of £900 was to have been presented to me. I am afraid I deeply regret that I will not be able personally to say good-bye to you all at that meeting on 14 January; it would be too much for me, physically and emotionally, to attend. I wish you all many more happy years at U3A.
