Class news for 2018-19

Do pick up a new timetable from the Office whenever you like (the date on which it was prepared is printed in the top corners). A revised handbook will be printed in October.

Italian: beginners at 12.35 on Wednesdays is for those who started Italian last year. It is not suitable for absolute beginners. It will be called Italian: beginners (2nd year) in the new handbook.

Hebrew Conversation. The class starts late. It is still fortnightly, but dates for the Autumn term have changed to Oct 10, 24; Nov 7, 21; Dec 5. Remaining dates for the year are as in the handbook.

Spanish: Advanced. This class will move to Room 28 for the Autumn term and occupy its old time slot of 10.00 – 11.30. It will move to Room 33 at 12.50 for the following two terms. Dates (unchanged) as in the handbook.

Brexit: The possible effects. David Ellis is unable to make the first timetabled session on Oct 2 but the 5 subsequent sessions will take place as timetabled.

Poetry: Writing Poetry. This class, due to start on 8 October will now begin the following week, on 15 October. Note that the class now begins at 11.40, not 11.30.

Bridge on Wednesday afternoons. Members will be pleased to hear that there will be a new Bridge teacher to take this class now that Peter Nash has left. His name is Tony Mavropoullos and he will be joining us at 12.50 on Wednesday 26 September in 2.21.

Social Anthropology Caroline White is changing this course to “History and Social Anthropology of Italy, focusing on cities, small towns and the countryside, from Roman times to the present”. Tuesday, same time (10.30) in Room 33
